About

Welcome to 'The Crystal Palace Park Trail'!

Have you got an interesting piece of history that you would like to share? Do you know of an event that takes place in the park on a regular basis that other people might like to join in with? Would you like to find out more about the park?

This blog supports a trail of the park that I am developing as a community project- using google maps to help visitors to the park learn about the history of the park- while at the same time enjoying what the park has to offer today!

This is a community trail and anyone can take part, either by using the trail to enhance your visit or by contributing to it.

The present trail does not have a designated route, but you can click on any marker on the park map to find out more. Hopefully at a later stage there will be some tour routes to follow for those who would like a more guided tour.

I am really interested in the history of the park but am no expert on local history and therefore am inviting you as members of the community to join in and add to the trail. I see my role as a faciliator- to get the trail started and monitor contributions.

The theme of my present trail is: 'The Palace and Park of the People'. By contributing you can help visitors gain a feeling of what it was like to visit the park in the past and share ideas about how the park can be enjoyed today.

Click on the image of the map or here to have a look at the trail so far.

There are lots of different ways to contribute. Click on the 'How to Contribute' Tab (or here) to find out more about how to take part.

Click on the 'History' Tab (or here ) to read the brief background of The Crystal Palace.

There are a lot of interesting community groups in the area that you can get involved with. Take a look at the web links on the right hand side to find out more.
